Welcome to the 15th Wolf Twin Review!
Introducing Cendrine Marrouat: a poet, author of 50+ books, artist, entrepreneur, and proud fur baby mama of four.

In the bird song
one last hot evening
briefly.
Silence . . .
birds slowly gathering
in a single line.
After the breeze
how gentle the embrace—
fall light and water.
Just enough light
from the moon to catch
their shadows.
Featured Poet Interview:
1. As a writer and artist, do you feel that—regardless of your many achievements—there’s still more to learn?
Socrates once said: "The only thing I know is that I know nothing." I believe that too. When you refuse to open the door to learning, you prevent yourself from reaching your full potential.
If you don't learn something new every day, you are not pushing yourself hard enough.
2. Since you speak two languages, do you approach haiku differently when writing in French?
I write very differently in French and in English. But my style in French can be stilted and boring. My haiku are not very good. In English, though, I feel freer to experiment with words and sentences.
Overall, my writing flows more naturally in English.
3. Was your appreciation of the overlooked cultivated, or were you born observant?
I don't know whether I was born observant or not, but I have always enjoyed paying attention to the world around me. The little details often reveal so much about the grand scheme of things!
4. Do you schedule writing and photography daily, or switch between mediums, depending on your mood?
My creative process is not very interesting, honestly. I write when inspiration strikes me. When it comes to photography, I don't have time to do it regularly anymore. But I have thousands of images in my archives, so I am never without a good photo to complement my work.
5. You are fantastically unique, in so many ways. Do you feel that being different has given your voice a creative edge?
Thank you! Not really. I think it has more to do with my willingness to be open about myself and to share the lessons life keeps teaching me.
6. What is your ideal writing situation? Are you a desk, cozy chair, or wherever it strikes you style of writer?
Writing at my desk in my office. I have all my music and books there. Plus, my cats love keeping me company there.
7. In your experience, how important is supporting and elevating other writers?
It is vital! You cannot succeed alone.
When you support others, they will support you back. You will make solid friends, and all sorts of opportunities will come your way. The pros far outweigh the cons.
8. Mindfulness and truth interplay throughout your work. Do you have a personal credo?
Be yourself, the rest is taken. Be truthful and don't be scared of exploring what may scare you. Writing is the best and cheapest therapist in the world. ;-)
9. Between The Haiku Shack Magazine and Auroras & Blossoms, you’ve helped to create wonderful ways for writers to connect, share, and support one another. From the perspective of an entrepreneur and writer, how can new writers find their ideal audience?
By treating their work seriously and learning the importance of a good strategy. So many creatives waste time trying to please everyone instead of trying to figure out what makes them unique. All the ideas in the world have been used and reused. It's the unique twist you put on a story that makes it yours.
You don't need to be on social networks to make a dent in the artistic world. Build a website or a blog, open a newsletter, network with other creatives via forums or local events, etc. And most importantly, celebrate every victory.
10. Despite how far you’ve come, is there a dream you are currently working towards?
I have achieved many things in my career. I just want to continue being an artist for as long as I can.
11. If you were a tree, which would you be?
I would be an aspen tree. I love everything about aspens. They have beautiful bark, and the sound the wind makes when blowing through their leaves is mesmerizing. Whenever I see them, I feel happy and peaceful.
Cendrine’s latest book: "Light Lingers: A Collection of Haiku" (2025).
